FRENCH NEW WAVE: This style of film really is the use of most film today. There use of foreground, middle ground, and background is so interesting. We don't really notice how much they use these tactics, because we are so used to it. Seeing some of these films reminded me of shots I've seen in more modern day films. I am a huge cinematographer, so I look at all the shots vividly, and being able to breakdown each shot into this format is cool. A director who Reminded me of French New wave style is Wes Anderson. He uses these three tactics in almost every one of his shots, to perfection. Or the closest thing to it. every shot in grand Budapest hotel made me think of this style. Watching some of the French New wave films myself, I notice how similar Wes's films are to those. This is one of my favorite shots from the film Grand Budapest Hotel. in the foreground we have the little medals truck with the two main characters in it. The middle ground has the army troops marching, and in the background is the hotel. But it isn't that same as the first shot of the hotel, because the soldiers flags are on it, hinting that the hotel has been taken over.
NEOREALISM: This style of art, and more specifically film is beautiful. It is so simplistic, but the simplicity makes it edgy and clean. The quality is amazing for the time period of film this is in, but it is in black and white. These filters didn't use artificial things, like a set, and extras, they just filmed on the street. I find that so cool how these people took a big ass camera, didn't care what the passing people thought, and created art. That is something hard to find in this day in age. Now film makers just have giant set, with payed extras all around just "making something fake reality." These films are real. They have pretty simple plot structures, but it is so interesting to see all the parts, and hear what they had to do.
the quality of this shot is insane, there faces look so distraught, and it is in black and white. This film is also very old, so the camera quality surprises me. The simplicity of this shot surprises me, cause at first glance, the black and white makes it look so artsy, and complex.
that is the size of one of the cameras  they used. Now can you imagine  seeing a group of people randomly filming with this thing on the street. That is what it was like for all those people in the background of the film.
